The minimum pilot requirements for an LOA in the L-39 are 1000 hours pilot flight time, including 500 hours as PIC in the SEL airplane category.
The course is designed for a pilot with the above minimum experience, and in addition to L-39 specifics, is aimed at the pilot transitioning to jet aircraft for the first time. As such the course will contain sections on high altitude flight, jet operations, ejection seats, FAR’s, high altitude weather and flight planning, jet aircraft systems etc.
The course consists of 30 hours of classroom and 8 hours of hands on training on the actual aircraft in a hangar environment, under the supervision of classroom instructors and qualified maintenance personnel. All materials including a custom revised Flight Manual; check-lists and necessary reference materials are included. Successful completion of the course will require a passing grade on the final written and oral exams. The classroom format will include Power Point and video presentations and utilize the training format utilized by many of the major airlines.
